Crimestar Records Management System’s base-module allows law enforcement end-users to track calls for service, incidents, arrests, citations, animal complaints, community policing events, accidents, field events, property/evidence, warrants and pawn items, says Eric Sargent, sales manager for the San Jose, California, company.
Case management, personnel, vehicle maintenance, department asset inventories, child ID, mapping, photo lineups, daily activity logs and an internal e-mail system are additional functionalities. CAD and mobile digital communications are available as fully integrated add-ons.
There are two editions; one using an included Microsoft Visual FoxPro database (for agencies with 30 or fewer officers); the other using a "customer-supplied" Microsoft SQL server database, designed for agencies with large database requirements or who operate in a WAN environment, says Sargent. Crimestar provides a free, 90-day evaluation copy to agencies wanting to "test drive" the software.
