NEWARK, Calif. – October 7, 2015 – SST, Inc., the maker of ShotSpotter Flex™ − the leading solution for gunfire detection, location, alerting and analysis − today announced the appointment of Marc Morial to its board of directors.  Morial brings extensive organizational and civic leadership experience to the SST board.  He is currently president and CEO of the National Urban League, a nonpartisan civil rights organization, and served as mayor of New Orleans from 1994 to 2002.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Marc’s unique background and perspective join our board of directors as we continue to partner with cities in addressing gun violence,” said Ralph A. Clark, President and CEO of SST.  “Our technology is helping to fight illegal gunfire and is curbing gun crime in neighborhoods that suffer most. With Marc’s strategic counsel, we will continue working with local law enforcement and their respective cities at the tactical level but also elevate our unique perspective to better inform policy at the national policy level.”

Morial has more than 25 years experience as an entrepreneur, lawyer, professor, legislator, Mayor, President of the US Conference of Mayors, and now CEO of the National Urban League, the nation’s largest civil rights organization. With my background, I hope to work with ShotSpotter to provide real insight into the current public safety challenges America’s cities and police departments face.”

The current SST board of directors includes Ralph A. Clark, Randy Hawks, Gary Lauder, Pascal Levenshon, and Tom Groos.
