New York Police Officer Killed in Crash

WHITESBORO, N.Y. -- The Whitestown Police Department has identified an Oneida County officer who was killed in a car accident Wednesday night.
Killed was Officer Kevin Crossley, a part-time officer who was working in the village of Whitesboro, according to the town of Whitestown Police Department's Facebook page.
The department posted at 8:32 a.m. Thursday that Crossley was killed in the two-vehicle accident.
"Last night we lost one of our fellow part time Police Officers," the post said. "Officer Kevin Crossley who was working in the Village of Whitesboro was killed in a 2 car motor vehicle accident on Oriskany Blvd. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers, we will miss you brother......"
New York State Police said a Chevrolet Avalanche collided with the village of Whitesboro officer's patrol car at the intersection of Westmoreland Street and Oriskany Boulevard just before 8 p.m.
The officer was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Avalanche's driver was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Utica with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The crash is still being investigated, state police said.
A news conference is scheduled for later today.
