National Law Enforcement Museum to Host Live Critical Traffic Safety Summit
The National Law Enforcement Museum (NLEM) will host a one-day, virtual and in-person, Traffic Safety Summit on Thursday July 28th. This free event, sponsored by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, features a series of 45-minute panel discussions and presentations, hosted in conjunction with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Each year, an average of 48 officers are killed in vehicle-related incidents and over the past five years (2017-2021), a total of 241 officer were killed in traffic-related incidents. With a panel of industry experts, the goal of the summit is to review the past year’s data as a discussion point to address the issues and propose recommendations that will be shared with the law enforcement community to improve vehicle and roadside safety throughout the country.

There will also be discussion of the current situation and promote ways to better protect officers as they manage crash scenes, enforce traffic law, and apprehend fleeing suspects.
