A Charleston County, South Carolina Sheriff's deputy died Friday after suffering a medical emergency while on duty earlier in the week.
Deputy Jared Murphy was working the evening of April 11 when he began to feel some discomfort, according to a news release.
After speaking with his supervisor, an EMS crew was called to transport the 34-year-old to a local hospital for an evaluation. Murphy coded three times while en route to the hospital, but was revived and placed in a comma in an effort to stabilize him.
Despite efforts to save the five-year veteran, he was pronounced dead on April 15.
Murphy leaves behind a loving wife and three adoring children, ranging in age from 3 years to 13 years old.
