Vienna Town Constable Shane Eyre, who had been with the agency for three years, was participating in firearms training when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital but could not be revived.

A New York constable died after a medical emergency during firearms training earlier this month.

Vienna Town Constable Shane Eyre, who was with the agency for three years, "passed away unexpectedly" on Sept. 1, the law enforcement officer's obituary states. Apparently, he had suffered a fatal heart attack, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.

Eyre was taking part in a shotgun operator course in Lafayette, and at about 4 p.m., he collapsed in the middle of the course. He was rushed to the hospital, but he was unable to be revived.

"Shane would do anything for anyone he loved," his obituary stated. "He was a Jack of all trades and would do his best to be the master of whatever he was learning. Shane was the go-to guy, especially when it came to computers. He was always prepared for absolutely anything that could come his way.

Constable Eyre had served with the Vienna Town Constable's Office for three years. He is survived by his mother, father, two brothers, and a sister.
