A University of Kentucky police officer has been fired for inappropriate contact with a student after entering the student's dorm room.
Officer David Thompson was terminated Wednesday after the Saturday evening incident at Haggin Hall, according to a statement by UK Police Chief Joe Monroe.
The incident was investigated by the police department, and "the officer, as a result, was in violation of a number of university employment policies," Monroe said.
The student taped the incident and posted it on YouTube on Monday. Fox News identifed the student as Graham Gaddis
The video showed the student, using numerous curse words, arguing with two officers who were trying to search his room.
The video then showed one officer appearing to push or shove the student as the officers entered the room.
UK spokesman Jay Blanton said the university would not release information about the student and whether he would be disciplined in any way.
Blanton said university policy allows a police officer to enter a room if he believes there is suspicious or illegal activity; however, the firing was based on inappropriate contact and had nothing to do with the officer's entry into the dorm room.
