Advanced EDR Systems Introduces the envisionCAM(TM)

Affixed inside a vehicle, the dual lens video camera records aggressive driving behavior and accidents then wirelessly transmits data to a computing device.

Austin, TX (July 13, 2008)-- Advanced EDR Systems, LLC, a developer of technology solutions that promote safety and efficiency on that nation's highways, announced today that it has shipped the first batch of its flagship product, the envisionCam, to corporate customers.

The company has been accepting orders on the product for several months as a way to fund its initial product rollout.

"It speaks volumes that our corporate customers recognized the value of our event data recorder after testing the initial prototype and witnessing live demonstrations," said Daniel D'Agostino, President of Advanced EDR Systems, LLC. "Now that we have our product in the marketplace at a reasonable price point, I anticipate that we'll be able to explore many more opportunities."

The envisionCAM product is securely affixed inside the vehicle, typically just behind the rear-view mirror. Once activated, it records aggressive driving behavior and accidents in High Definition video of the interior of the vehicle and in front of the vehicle, which is stored on a 1GB internal SD card. The events are automatically and wirelessly transferred to a specified computer or server when the device is within range of a specific wireless network. The external GPS receiver uses SiRF Star III technology to maximize the GPS sensitivity for accuracy and signal strength. The video is reviewed using Advanced EDR Systems' simple and intuitive software, which includes a custom player to review videos with precise control, a button that plots the path of an event using a satellite map as well as many other features.

D'Agostino noted that the envisionCam has the capacity to "significantly improve the driving behavior in commercial drivers, teenagers and others.

"We've seen tremendous demand for a cost-effective product among businesses that depend on safe driving, such as taxis, as well as insurance companies, which view the product as a way to modify the driving behavior of consumers, especially teenagers.

"These companies are already making a strong push to help parents recognize the dangers."

The statistics are alarming:

  • Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States, accounting for 41% of teen fatalities
  • Once the parent of a 16 year old leaves the vehicle, the crash rate increases by 800%
  • Teens are 900% more likely to get into a car crash than an adult
  • 1 teen dies in a car crash every hour during the weekends and every 2 hours during the weekdays
  • Car crash fatalities have increased by 15% from 1994--2004 in young females (15--20 years old)
  • Crash fatalities for 16-20 year-olds were almost 700% higher than crash fatalities for 8-15 year-olds
  • 74% of young drivers (15-20 years-old) that were involved in fatal crashes and had been drinking were not wearing their seatbelts
