It’s interesting that when we discuss active shooter events we most often think about mass murder committed with a firearm. There are also separate events committed with a knife, knives, sword, machete, etc. What seems a little odd… different enough to comment on… is when an attack is performed with both.
On May 23rd, 2014, Elliot Rodger killed six people and injured another fourteen, but what makes the attack unique, as compared to most others, is that his first three murders were committed with knives. At 22 years of age, Rodger is reported to have started his killing for day by first stabbing to death three men (his roommates) in his apartment. Each victim had been stabbed multiple times and the authorities reportedly believed that they were killed one at a time as they entered the apartment or exited their bedroom. Approximately three hours after killing his roommates, Rodger went on his shooting attack.
