The Intoxilyzer 8000, from CMI Inc, provides case-law approved infrared spectrometry alcohol analysis. This new system offers infrared absorption at both 3 and 9 microns -- on every sample. Its range is from 0.000 to 0.600 percent BAC. The fully mobile device is 14.5 inches long by 10-inches wide by 8.4 inches deep and it weighs 17 pounds. The system features a 1 MB memory; real-time clock; and three RS-232 serial ports, one external printer port, and an internal modem. It uses disposable mouth pieces and the test takes less than 1 minute to provide results. There is a detachable keyboard for easy use and test subject data entry.
