BI TAD combines transdermal alcohol monitoring with radio frequency curfew monitoring. TAD continually senses for alcohol through the skin and detects and reports drinking events over a 0.020 transdermal alcohol concentration (TAC) threshold. Drinking events are then reported to the central monitoring computer via the BI HomeBase receiver. Installed in the client’s home, HomeBase reports drinking events when clients come within 50 feet of the HomeBase receiver.
Client enrollment in the software is simple and doesn’t require any initial client testing, training or participation. To ensure system integrity, TAD incorporates several tamper detection technologies including:
Proximity detection gauges the unit’s proximity to the client’s leg.
A motion sensor to record the amount of time the unit is stationary, which may indicate it has been removed from the ankle.
A skin contact sensor to ensure the alcohol sensor is not blocked.
A fiber optic strap to detect attempts to compromise or cut the strap.
