A man who killed Nichols Hills' fire chief early Wednesday may have been looking for Oklahoma City's fire chief instead, according to Mustang police.
Mustang Police Chief Chuck Foley told Eyewitness News 5 that he could not rule out that whoever killed Nichols Hills Fire Chief Keith Bryan was instead looking for Oklahoma City Fire Chief Keith Bryant. Investigators said the killer was upset over a job application.
Bryan's wife told police that the man said, "I'm sorry. You should have given me the (expletive deleted) job."
According to a press release from the OSBI, the Mustang Police Department requested OSBI assistance. Agents have a description of the shooter and the vehicle he was driving, according to the press release.
Bryan died Wednesday morning following a home invasion at his Mustang residence, according to authorities. OSBI agents said he was shot once in the head. Bryan was transported to OU Medical Center, where he later died.
Mustang Police Chief Chuck Foley said dispatchers received a frantic 911 call at 10 p.m. Tuesday. The female caller told dispatchers an intruder broke into her home and shot her husband.
Police went to the home in the 1300 block of Rose Hill Drive. Bryan's wife told police the intruder entered the house through an open garage door, made a statement and fired one shot at the chief. Police said Bryan's wife was the only witness to the crime.
Officials at OU Medical Center confirmed Bryan died at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
