CHP Officer Involved in Construction Zone Collision

Oct. 27--APPLEGATE -- A CHP officer was rushed to the hospital after being involved in an accident in a construction zone along I-80.

The officer was driving behind a cone truck in the construction zone near I-80 eastbound and Placer Hills Road in Applegate when a driver rear-ended his squad car.

CHP has not named the officer involved in the accident at this time. They did say he was taken to the hospital with complaints of pain.

A second person was taken away for medical treatment, no word on how serious their injuries are.

CHP does not know why the person driving behind the officer did not slow down.
