Officers who made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle found a mobile meth lab inside it Wednesday, according to the Lake Mary Police Department.

The officers stopped the vehicle about 2 a.m. at Lake Mary Boulevard near Fifth Street because it appeared to have window tint that was too dark and the light on its tag was out, said police Sgt. Joseph Gowen.

The driver, 23-year-old Sanford resident Cody Hurlbet, and the passenger appeared to be nervous, so the officers summoned a narcotics dog unit, Gowen said.

After sniffing the air around the vehicle, the dog indicated the presence of narcotics inside it. When the officers conducted a search of the vehicle, they found "equipment indicative of making methamphetamine," Gowen said.

The passenger was released, but officers arrested Hurlbet on a charge of possession of precursor materials for methamphetamines.

Local Drug Enforcement Administration agents as well as members of the city and county investigative bureau, a task force that includes sheriff's office deputies and officers from several municipal police departments, responded to the scene, according to Gowen.
