An officer with the Farmers Branch Police Department was able to walk away from a potentially serious crash last week after a pickup truck lost control and slammed into his patrol vehicle.
According to a Facebook post from Farmers Branch police, the incident occurred April 4 in the 13200 block of Mount Castle Drive. In a video posted by the department, the officer can be seen speaking with a driver during a traffic stop and walking back to his patrol vehicle.
As he is leaning into the car and typing on his computer, an out-of-control pickup truck slams into the patrol car before crashing into a nearby house. The officer was able to walk away with only minor injuries, the department said in the Facebook post. The driver was uninjured, a police spokesperson said.
The post said the driver of the truck was an unlicensed 16-year-old who told police he was changing lanes when he lost control of the truck on a wet, slick road. A Farmers Branch police spokesperson told The Dallas Morning News that the driver faces charges of driving without a license and not having insurance.
In the post, Farmers Branch police reminded drivers to be careful when driving on rainy days.
