Manheim Township police took him into custody without incident after a short foot chase.

Police nabbed a suspected burglar in Lancaster Township on Saturday.

Corey Vaughn Clevenstine, 29, who has no permanent address, stole an assault rifle and a large television, together valued at $2,000, from a home in the 3400 block of River Road in Manor Township in July, township police said.

Detective Mike Phenneger charged Clevenstine on Nov. 4 with burglary, theft and criminal conspiracy, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Clevenstine was entered into the Lancaster City/County Crime Stoppers system, and police got tips on his whereabouts, but he eluded capture until Saturday, police said.

That's when Lancaster County-Wide Communications received several tips that Clevenstine was in Lancaster Township.

Police from Millersville Borough and East Hempfield, Manor and Manheim townships set up surveillance at several locations and eventually spotted Clevenstine in an alley near Ryder Avenue, they said.

Manheim Township police took him into custody without incident after a short foot chase.

Clevenstine, who was on parole, was turned over to Manor Township police and then to the Lancaster County Sheriffs Office on a bench warrant, Manor Township police Sgt. James Alexander said. He later was taken to Lancaster County Prison on the bench warrant.

Alexander said a few other police departments in Lancaster County have questioned Clevenstine.
