About 5 a.m. Sunday, authorities received a call regarding a possible break-in on the 5000 block of Barkshire in the Hickory Hill area. The caller, Tyrannay Boyd, said her former boyfriend had been calling during the night and threatened to harm her.

The suspect entered the home through a side bedroom window. He shot Boyd's mother, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Boyd, 25, tried to escape, but the suspect caught her down the street and took her away at gunpoint.

Brandon Lee Spicer, 26, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

In another homicide, Patrick Spencer, 54, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his wife.

At 5:42 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shooting call in the 800 block of Sumter in South Memphis.

When they entered, they found that Lisa Spencer, 49, had been shot and her husband Patrick was trying to stop the bleeding, according to the affidavit.

She was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Spencer said he and his wife were arguing about insurance and he was holding a gun. His wife reached for it and it fired into her chest.

He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.

No charges had been filed in the other three fatal shootings.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shooting at the McDonald's at 1325 Ridgeway.

According to police, two males were inside a Jeep Cherokee at the drive-thru window when 21-year-old Tony Woods tried to get into the vehicle.

One of the occupants shot Woods, who was pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation of that crime was ongoing.

Jerry Nelson, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene and a 21-year-old man was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

There was no suspect description available.

Officers responded to a shooting at about 11:10 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Hanley. A 47-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were found in a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead while the woman was transported to the Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.

The deceased victim had not been positively identified, and police had no suspects.
