An Ohio police officer accused of posting an insensitive comment on Facebook last month in regards to the suicide of a Black Lives Matter activist has been fired.
Fairborn Police Officials said that Officer Lee Cyr made the post on the social media site that read: "Love a happy ending," referencing the suicide of MarShawn McCarrel on the front steps of the Ohio Statehouse in February, according to WHIO-TV.
"After completion of an internal affairs investigation, the Fairborn Police Department has terminated the employment of Officer Lee Cyr effective immediately," the department announced in a statement.
Officials said that the veteran officer's comment was a "violation of the department’s social media policy and does not conform to the professional standards and core values established by the organization."
Cyr was a member of the Fairborn Police Department since 1994.
