GovX Announces Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America as November's Recipient of Mission Giveback Donation Program
GovX, the online shopping site exclusively for current and former military and first responders, selected Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) as November's recipient of the Mission Giveback donation program. Each month, GovX chooses a new service-related foundation performing work in the military, first responder, or law enforcement communities and donates a portion of proceeds from orders placed during the given month.
Founded and led by veterans, IAVA is the modern-day veterans hall for the current generation with over 420,000 members worldwide. IAVA's mission is to unite, empower, and connect post-9/11 veterans through education, advocacy, and community. Its programs include non-partisan advocacy on Capitol Hill, data-driven research on post-9/11 veteran issues, and veterans transition assistance through its Rapid Response Referral Program (RRRP)—case-management which helps veterans of all generations navigate the governmental and non-governmental services available to them.
The RRRP has helped over 8,100 veterans and family members since its launch in 2012. Veterans who go through the program receive prompt and professional support from transition managers who help with issues like usage of the New GI Bill for educational benefits, medical and legal support, housing and financial assistance, and more. Services are free and confidential, and open to veterans of all eras and their families.
"IAVA is grateful for GovX’s steadfast commitment to our mission. Veterans are not a charity, they’re an investment. Thanks to Mission Giveback and GovX, IAVA will continue to be the most effective advocate for the Post-9/11 generation of veterans and play a critical role empowering and supporting vets of all generations and their families at no cost,” said Allison Jaslow, Executive Director of IAVA.
IAVA also has a significant and vocal advocacy arm performing work on behalf of veterans in Washington DC. Since 2004, IAVA has been a constant presence in the capitol, creating and driving the national conversation on issues ranging from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), suicide prevention, veteran unemployment, women veteran issues, and more. They work closely with the White House, Members of Congress, the Department of Defense, and lawmakers across all parties to achieve legislative agendas that benefit veterans from all eras, while constantly serving as a watchdog to hold political leaders accountable for failures to support the veteran community.
"We're proud to support the loudest and most passionate voice advocating on behalf of post-9/11 veterans with our Mission Giveback program," said Alan Cole, GovX CEO. "The mission of IAVA to support this new greatest generation of veterans is more important than ever before."
