Collin College Law Enforcement Academy in Texas Integrates Motorola Solutions Body Cameras into Police Training
McKinney, TX – April 3, 2025 – Collin College Law Enforcement Academy (CCLEA) is integrating Motorola Solutions’ V700 body cameras into its curriculum to provide recruits with real-world experience and valuable insights into the use of this critical technology for enhancing transparency and accountability in policing.
"Incorporating body cameras into our training program equips our recruits with the tools and knowledge necessary to excel in today's policing environment," said Scott Donaldson, CCLEA director. "This technology is essential for promoting transparency, accountability and public trust, and we are proud to be at the forefront of enabling our future police officers with this meaningful training experience.”
The benefits of body cameras in law enforcement training help to address some of the most critical challenges in today’s policing. Firstly, in an industry like policing, where decision-making can be required in highly stressful environments, officers reap immeasurable benefits by seeing and being more self-aware of their instinctive actions and words. Secondly, as instructors help shape the next class of law enforcement, body camera footage provides an unbiased tool for evaluating recruit performance, identifying areas for improvement and reinforcing best practices. Plus, this footage can be used to analyze real-life scenarios encountered during training, allowing for dynamic adjustments to the curriculum and ensuring recruits are prepared for the challenges of modern policing.
“This is a game-changer for our academy and was made possible through a generous donation from Motorola Solutions,” said Dr. Mark Smith, McKinney Campus provost. “It’s not only an investment in our training program, it’s an investment in the future of policing. Our cadets will graduate with a deeper understanding of the benefits of body cameras and how to use them effectively, which better prepares them for the complexities of real-world encounters.”
