Watch LAPD Officers Deliver Baby Outside Gas Station

Sept. 6, 2022
"Knowing that I was able to contribute in bringing a life to this world, I mean that alone is incomparable," said an LAPD officer who helped a woman give birth outside a Van Nuys gas station.

Body camera footage captured two LAPD officers delivering a baby outside a gas station last week.

The birth happened early Wednesday after officers received a report of a woman in labor at a Van Nuys gas station, KABC-TV reports. When they arrived at the scene, the pregnant woman was on the sidewalk near an ice machine.

The officers called for paramedics while quickly caring for the woman, who began pushing out the baby. But the baby arrived before the medics.

"It happened so fast," LAPD Officer Juan Sierra told KABC.

"Knowing that I was able to contribute in bringing a life to this world, I mean that alone is incomparable," he added.
