Aug. 2, 2024
When Milwaukee police tried to arrest a man accused of shooting two family members, the suspect tried to shoot it out with officers at a gas station before he was wounded and arrested.

Security and body camera footage captured a frantic shootout last month that erupted when Milwaukee police tried to arrest a suspect wanted for shooting two people.

The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. July 17 when police tracked down Jayuntae Gregory, 22, to a gas station, WISN-TV reports. The suspect was accused of shooting two family members the previous day.

Before police entered, Gregory scrambled from the station's front counter to the back.  Officers ordered Gregory to surrender, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Officers moved out of the station, and a brief standoff ensued. Finally, Gregory burst outside firing.

Police returned fire, and Gregory was struck. He was then arrested by officers.

Charges against Gregory include three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
