An officer used a kid’s bike to chase down an accused thief, Colorado officials said.
Officer Jacob Tarr with the Lone Tree Police Department was trying to apprehend someone accused of felony theft. He wasn’t near his squad car when the “suspect jumped a couple of fences and then stole a kid’s motorized scooter,” according to a Nov. 29 Facebook post by the city.
Video shows Tarr jumping fences and trash bins before using a bright green bicycle to chase the suspect down the street, according to the post.
Eventually the suspect was caught and arrested, officials said.
“The suspect might‘ve had a scooter, but Officer Tarr had determination, and a kid’s bike,” the city said.
The suspect was charged with felony theft, then officers learned the suspect also had three outstanding warrants, including one for armed robbery, officials said.
The suspect was booked into the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Justice Center, officials said.
Lone Tree is about a 20-mile drive southeast of Denver.
