A burglary suspect who wore multicolored socks over his hands to conceal his fingerprints was apprehended by Atlanta police when he tried to escape over a tall fence.

Atlanta police grabbed a burglary suspect wearing multicolored socks on his hands to cover his fingerprints as the man tried to escape by scaling a tall fence.

The incident happened shortly before 9:45 a.m. Oct. 9 when officers responded to a residential burglary call, WSB-TV reports. Security camera video footage had captured a man—identified as Kenneth Whack, 33—breaking into the house and stealing a gun.

At the scene, police spotted Whack, who had been wearing multicolored socks on his hands to conceal his identity. A chase ensued through an apartment complex, and officers were able to pull down Whack as he was climbing a fence.

Whack was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and other counts. The stolen gun had been hidden under a bush and was recovered.
