Watch Tenn. Police's Deadly Bridge Gunfight with Shooting Suspect
When Nashville police spotted a man accused of shooting a rescue mission employee, the suspect opened fire, grazing an officer before he was fatally shot.
Baton Rouge police were responding to a call of a disturbance involving an armed man at a motel when they encountered the suspect in the parking lot, and a gun battle erupted.
A Tennessee police officer was injured in a deadly shootout on a bridge with an attempted murder earlier this week.
The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Monday when Nashville police spotted Tadarius Milan Hunt, a 29-year-old man wanted for attempted murder in the shooting of a rescue mission employee a day earlier, jogging up a bridge, WKRN-TV reports. An officer ordered Hunt to stop, but he continued running.
Another officer confronted Hunt, who drew a gun from his waistband and began shooting. The officer returned fire, and Hunt was struck.
Officers performed life-saving measures on Hunt, and he was rushed to the hospital. The officer who exchanged gunfire with Hunt was grazed on his left leg in the shootout.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Davidson County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.
