Prince William County Police Officers David McKeown and Jesse Hempen are on the road to recovery after being wounded in a shooting that killed rookie Officer Ashley Guindon last week.

Two Prince William County, Virginia police officers who were wounded in a shooting that left a collegue dead on Feb. 27 are on the road to recovery.

The statement released by the department Friday -- almost one week after rookie Officer Ashley Guindon was killed during her first day on the job -- said that Officers David McKeown and Jesse Hempen are "recovering well."

"For privacy reasons and out of respect to their families, we are limiting further information at this time," the statement read. "We have received many heartfelt messages from concerned community members asking for an update on their condition. We greatly appreciate everyone's concern and support"

The three officers had responded to a domestic-related shooting in the 13000 block of Lashmere Court in Woodbridge when officials said they were confronted Ronald William Hamilton.

The officers were wounded by Hamilton, who has since been charged with capital murder of a police officer and one count of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, who was found dead in the home.

Guindon was fatally shot while McKeown and Hempen were wounded. They have remained at Inova Fairfax Hospital since the shooting.
