EUFAULA, Alabama -- During this time of uncertainty, untested emergency plans and innovative solutions, we must think outside the box and remedy situations we didn’t foresee.
Those are the words of the Eufaula Police Department and they are putting action behind them. Though most restaurants have been forced to shut down in-house dining amid the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, drive-thru access is still available and going strong.
That’s works for most – unless you are a big-rig driver whose truck can’t fit. And walk-ups aren’t usually allowed.
To that end, police on Wednesday announced they will help any truck driver taking time off the road in Eufaula get food.
“We will either go get something for you or give you a ride to the nearest drive-thru (if you don’t mind riding in the back seat,’’ the department posted on Facebook. “If manpower is such that we cannot assist, we will secure someone that can.”
Truck drivers who need the assistance are asked to call 334-687-1200.
