Philadelphia police officers had to wake up a man who had been sleeping on the first floor of his Nicetown home and was unaware that part of the structure crashed down.
Philadelphia police officers saved a man and his dog after a house partially collapsed early Sunday while the two were inside sleeping.
Resident Dennis Myers was asleep on the first floor of his Nicetown neighborhood home when it collapsed, KYW-TV reports. But the crashing structure didn't wake him up; instead it was the police.
“The cops came in, and they said, ‘Your building’s fallen.’(I said,) ‘Huh? What?'" Myers told KYW. "(The officers said,) ‘Yeah! Look!’ I looked right outside from inside. I said, ‘Oh no. I gotta get out of here.'"
Officers were able to guide Myers and his dog out of the collapsed house. No one was injured in the incident.
Philadelphia License & Inspection is working to determine the cause of the collapse, but Myers believes it's related to an incident several months ago when a car struck the house.
