A Nevada sheriff's office thanked a bystander who came to the aid of a deputy who was struggling with an individual during a call Monday.
Nye County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Ruesch was responding to a disturbance call near the Terrible's Lakeside Casino at around 10:25 a.m., the agency stated in a social media post. During the call, the deputy got in a physical altercation with a man.
That's when an unidentified passerby stopped to help the deputy. The assistance from the good Samaritan allowed the deputy to subdue and take the suspect in without injury.
"Sheriff (Joe) McGill and his staff want to … thank this private citizen for coming to the aid of Deputy Ruesch," the agency stated. "This selfless act by the private citizen helped bring this incident to a peaceful end."
Ruesch also had praise for the timely help.
“He probably didn’t want the recognition. He is one of those types of people, and kind of the unrecognized hero,” Ruesch told KVVU-TV.
