Sausage lovers are in luck this World Kindness Day.
Johnsonville sausage is offering a free round of sausage Wednesday to people who post online about a kind act using the hashtag #KeepTheInternetJuicy.
Why?
The initiative was inspired by the viral "Wheel of Fortune" clip where contestant Will Jordan guessed the phrase "Treat Yourself A Round of Sausage." The correct answer was actually "Give Yourself A Round of Applause."
During Monday's episode, there were only a few tiles missing, and the board read "___E _OURSE_F A ROUN_ OF A___AUSE" when Jordan gave his answer, NBC News reported.
"I tell you, when the lights are on, and you know, the stars and Ryan Seacrest, Vanna White ... I just went blank," Jordan said, according to NBC News. "But if your dad, in retirement, is watching this show, maybe cracks a beer and gets a laugh, it was worth it."
Jordan works as a school resource officer with the Rocky Hill Police Department in Connecticut, and the department posted a link requesting food donations for the holidays following Jordan's answer.
How does it work?
Johnsonville's prize is one free product coupon — while supplies last — for anyone who posts with the hashtag, hoping to "spread kindness." According to Johnsonville, the coupons will be sent directly either via social media or email.
The #KeepTheInternetJuicy initiative is meant to boost positive content online, and it's part of Johnsonville's Keep It Juicy campaign.
According to Johnsonville's National Temperature Check, conducted by The Harris Poll earlier this year, 95% of Americans agree on the importance of being kind in person and online. It also revealed that 92% of Americans said seeing people do good things for one another makes them want to do good things for someone else.
Nonperishable food items can be dropped off in person, or people can contribute through Amazon by sending food to the 699 Old Main Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
The donations will go toward the Rocky Hill Human Services Food Bank.
