A McBee police officer was struck three times by a suspect who fired dozens of shot and fled the scene before he was finally apprehended in Darlington County following a standoff.
A South Carolina police officer was shot and wounded late Thursday by a suspect who fired dozens of rounds and was apprehended the following morning after a standoff.
The shooting happened when a McBee police officer responded to an incident near the high school, WPDE-TV reports. Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater said the suspect fired "more than 60 times," and Mayor Glenn Odom said the officer was struck three times.
The suspect fled the scene, and his vehicle was located shortly after 9:40 a.m. Friday. A standoff ensued in Darlington County, ending with the suspect's arrest at about 10 a.m.
