Officials in Texas issued an Ambert Alert for 9-year-old Caitlyn Williams and her uncle, Jessie Nicholas Williams, that morning and numerous tips led an FBI task force to a motel room in Bossier City, according to a news release by the City of Benbrook.

Members of the task force staked out the room and made entry before one of the agents became engaged in a struggle with the suspect. As agents attended to apprehend the suspect, shots were fired.

An FBI agent was wounded and the 24-year-old suspect was shot dead. Officials said the agent's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The girl was found safe by the agents during the investigation.

Police said that Caitlyn left home on her bicycle Friday for a weekend sleepover at a friend's house but never showed up and was reported missing after she didn't return home on Sunday.
