Ontario Knife Company's (OKC) latest tactical folding knife is the Utilitac-1A. Based on the top selling original Utilitac folding knife designed by Joe Pardue, the Utilitac-1A improves on the original design with the addition of OKC's exclusive patent-pending Tactical Assisted Opening (T.A.O.) system also designed by Joe Pardue. The T.A.O. enhances the user's natural hand motion, giving this folder an incredibly fast one-handed opening capability.
The OKC Utilitac-1A is a single-handed ambidextrous folding knife and features an overall length of 7.125 inches with a 3 inch AUS-8 steel blade. AUS-8 steel is very versatile and durable, giving the knife an edge that will take, hold, and re-sharpen extremely well. The knife is available with either a satin or black blade and comes with upgraded black G-10 handle scales. G-10 is a laminated fiberglass material that is lightweight and extremely durable. The G-10 scales feature a flowing wave of stippling, providing the OKC Utilitac-1A's handle with superior aesthetics and grip.
Adding to the already impressive features of the OKC Utilitac-1A, the T.A.O. mechanism truly sets this folder apart from the competition. The T.A.O. is designed to be more efficient and more durable than other assisted opening systems. It features only five moving parts and the opening kick is nothing short of impressive! The side locking mechanism also allows the user to lock the blade in the closed position preventing an unintentional opening. The Utilitac-1A sports a multi-position pocket clip enabling the knife to be configured completely user and mission specific. While the original Utilitac has already become a favorite among tactical operators, the benefits of the fast opening T.A.O. system will make fans of tradesmen, hunters and anyone else who carries the knife.
