FREDERICK, Colo. --
A police officer on his way home at the end of his shift on Monday night spotted a house fire on Wren Court.
The officer called for help and evacuated several homes, officials said.
Despite the officers quick actions, the fire quickly grew. It took 90 minutes to get it under control, officials said.
The fire caused extensive damage to two homes.
No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Investigators told 7NEWS they are looking at fireworks as a possible cause. A 7NEWS photographer at the scene saw the remnants of numerous spent fireworks in the area.
