Three troopers with Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, were recognized Wednesday for their efforts to combat drinking and driving.

Troopers Craig Finkle, Antonio Mattone and Gerald Powell Jr. were among 66 law enforcement officers statewide to receive honors in the 2011 DUI Top Gun Awards. The awards were presented by the Pennsylvania Driving Under the Influence Association during a meeting in Lancaster.

According to a police statement, the association was founded in 1979 "to reduce deaths and injuries resulting from DUI." Of the 66 officers recognized this year, 49 are Pennsylvania State Police troopers.

Members of the association include criminal justice professionals, business and industry representatives, and drug and alcohol treatment professionals. The organization provides training to highway safety personnel and distributes resource materials.

The theme of the annual meeting Wednesday was "Veterans of Highway Safety."
