A Massachusetts State Police recruit is in critical condition after he was knocked unconscious for nearly 10 minutes while participating in a boxing exercise at the academy in New Braintree.

A Massachusetts State Police recruit was seriously injured during training Thursday.

According to WBZ-TV, the recruit was participating in a boxing exercise at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree when he was struck in the head and knocked unconscious for nearly 10 minutes. The on-site medical team evaluated the recruit, and he was rushed to a hospital in Worcester, WBTS-TV reports

The recruit was in critical condition, but no details were released concerning the nature of the injury.
