Watch Seattle Police Chase Down Suspects after Armed ATM Carjacking
Two armed males were arrested earlier this month after they allegedly carjacked a driver at an ATM drive-through lane before leading Seattle police on a chase.
The incident happened just after 1 p.m. April 7 when a 17-year-old male and a 20-year-old man approached a 40-year-old man who stopped at an ATM to withdraw money, according to a news release from the Seattle Police Department. The suspects were brandishing a handgun and ordered the man to hand over his car keys and cellphone before taking off with the victim's car.
A pursuit with police began when officers spotted the vehicle, and the chase eventually led to Mercer Island as the suspects tried to escape. During the pursuit, officers saw a handgun thrown from the passenger side of the car, and the weapon was later recovered by investigators.
Finally, the suspects came to a stop and surrendered to police without incident. The chase and arrest were captured by a police dashboard camera.
No one was injured in the incident, and the 20-year-old was jailed, while the 17-year-old was booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center.
