Watch 'Runaway Pumpkin' Get Upper Hand on Ohio Police Officer

Oct. 15, 2024
A Bay Village police officer had his hands full trying to wrangle a 15-foot inflatable pumpkin Halloween decoration that became unsecured from its residential yard and was blown down the street.

An Ohio police officer had a tough time getting a runaway, uncooperative windbag under control this week, leading to an "attack" on the officer.

A Bay Village police officer responded to a call Monday after a resident's 15-foot inflatable pumpkin Halloween decoration that had become unmoored and was blown down the street, the department stated in an online update. When the officer reached the scene, he tried to wrangle the "runaway pumpkin," and his dashboard camera captured his efforts.

In the footage, the officer "confronts" the pumpkin, which wasted no time swallowing the officer and rolling onto the cruiser's hood. Fortunately, the officer was able to get out of the pumpkin's hold, and backup officers assisted him with getting it secured in its original yard.

“Luckily, no officers (or pumpkins) were harmed during the event,” the department stated.
