A Sanford motorcycle police officer was hurt Wednesday in a traffic accident and was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Officer Tina Leman, 38, was trying to make a traffic stop on 29th Street near Woodmere Boulevard when Timothy Salvino, who was traveling in the opposite direction, turned left in front of her, causing a collision, said Shannon Cordingly, a Sanford Police Department spokeswoman.

She described Leman's injuries as non-life threatening but serious. Salvino, a 20-year-old Casselberry man, was ticketed for violating the right of way, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Salvino was not hurt.
