Pa. Police Motorcycle Officer Breaks Leg in Crash with Alleged DUI Driver

An Upper Darby police officer's leg was broken in two places and will need surgery after being struck by an allegedly impaired driver at an intersection in the township's Drexel Hill neighborhood.

A veteran Pennsylvania police motorcycle officer suffered a broken leg Thursday after being struck by an alleged impaired driver.

The crash happened at an intersection in the Drexel Hill neighborhood of Upper Darby Township, CBS News reports. An Upper Darby Township police officer on a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle, although no details were released concerning what led to the crash.

The officer, an 11-year veteran of the department, was rushed to the hospital. The officer's leg was broken in two places, and surgery is needed to repair the injuries.

One person was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence in connection with the incident.
