Calif. Motorcycle Officer Seriously Injured in Collision

An Elk Grove police officer on a motorcycle suffered major injuries after being struck by an apparent wrong-way driver while traveling along Highway 99.
A California motorcycle officer was seriously injured in a crash involving an apparent wrong-way driver early Friday.
The incident happened shortly after 5 a.m. along a southbound stretch of Highway 99, near 12th Avenue, KXTV-TV reports. A dark-colored Dodge possibly traveling the wrong way struck an Elk Grove police officer on a motorcycle.
The officer suffered major injuries, according to KXTV. The driver of the other vehicle had no significant injuries.
California Highway Patrol troopers responded to the crash. A part of Highway 99 was shut down, including multiple ramps, while crews clear the wreckage and investigators check out the scene.
