BMW Take-Down Light System

June 10, 2010
No Charge on Remaining new 2009 Models Ordered from June 1st!

BMW’s new take-down light system is now available without charge on all remaining new 2009 R 1200 RT-P models ordered from June 1, 2010.  The system provides two 21w LED take-down lights which can operate in two different modes.  A three-position selector switch allows the lights to be operated:

  1. In wig-wag mode whenever the front emergency lights are activated.  This provides a highly visible low current consumption white forward-facing wig-wag feature.  The wig-wag will repeat the light flashing pattern of the front emergency lights – but in opposite sequence to not compete with the front emergency light visibility.
  2. Off
  3. In take-down light mode, steady-burning for maximum visibility during a violator stop.

BMW take-down lights are the same powerful LED light elements used in Code 3 lightbars, providing low power consumption with brilliant white illumination.  The special controller module and three-position switch provide the innovative wig-wag function for daytime pursuit use as well as the steady-burn function for nightime violator stop illumination.
