Three Worcester police officers were injured after a trespassing incident turned into a high speed chase Tuesday afternoon, according to the Worcester Police Department.
Worcester police officers were sent to 360 Franklin St. just before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of a former employee trespassing and allegedly urinating on the doors of the garage.
Police identified the man as Alfred Miron, 68, of West Boylston who had a no trespassing order issued to him by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.
When officers arrived Miron was in his vehicle parked outside the garage and he refused to speak to them, according to police.
While they were attempting to talk to him, Miron backed his car into a cruiser and “the tires of his vehicle began to spin as he pushed his car up against the cruiser creating a cloud of smoke,” police said.
Then while an officer tried to speak with Miron through his driver’s side window, he allegedly put his car in drive and started dragging the officer.
The officer was able to free himself when Miron reversed back into the cruiser a second time.
Officers then had to jump out of Miron’s way as he sped around the parking lot, before leaving the property and driving onto Grafton Street at a high rate of speed.
Officers pursued Miron in their cruisers as he drove onto I-290 and then exited onto Plantation Street. Miron was driving on the wrong side of Plantation Street, almost struck a cruiser and then crashed into another vehicle at the intersection with Lincoln Street when he did not stop for a red light, according to police.
Miron was ultimately arrested after he attacked an officer who attempted to remove him from his car, police said.
The driver of the vehicle Miron hit was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Three officers were injured during the incident, according to police.
Miron and two of the injured officers were taken to the hospital for treatment, after which the two officers were released.
Miron has been charged with three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, trespassing, willful and malicious destruction of property, disorderly conduct, leaving the scene of property damage, operating recklessly so as to endanger and failure to stop for police.
