CHP Officer Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash when Car Runs Light

A California Highway Patrol officer was injured Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Fresno.
CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said the officer was stopped in his marked vehicle on Olive Avenue at Clovis Avenue in the No. 2 lane.
He said the light turned green and the unit began to proceed through the intersection when a gray Honda Civic that was traveling southbound on Clovis Avenue facing a red light at 45 miles per hour. The Honda failed to stop for the red light and drove into the intersection, crashing into the right front of the CHP vehicle.
The crash caused the CHP vehicle to spin out of control and collide with a Honda Civic on its drive side that was in the No. 1 left lane on westbound on Olive Avenue at Clovis Avenue, Salas said.
The officer was taken to a local hospital for minor and moderate injuries, Salas said.
The Honda driver had minor injuries.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected.
The Fresno Police Department is investigating the crash.
