Video: Suspect in Stolen Car Stops for Gas while Fleeing Md. Police
A suspect fleeing Baltimore County police in a stolen car Tuesday had the foresight to stop for gas before continuing the chase.
The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. when members of Baltimore County Police Department's auto theft task force responded to a report of a stolen vehicle, WBAL-TV reports. Task force members spotted the vehicle as it fled on Interstate 83, and the department's aviation unit began tracking it throughout the area.
As the driver fled police, the vehicle crashed into a bus. The driver then did something suspects fleeing the authorities don't usually do: He stopped for gas at a gas station.
The suspect began fueling up the vehicle, but he drove off with the nozzle and hose still in the tank. Eventually, the car ran out of gas in the Sparrows Point area, and the suspect began fleeing on foot.
Police apprehended the suspect, and investigators recovered a gun on the man. No one was injured in the incident.
