Police are investigating after a suspect drove onto Colorado’s Folson Field after being involved in several hit-and-run crashes.

According to the Boulder Police Department, officers responded after the driver of a blue pickup truck, Karl E. Haglund, 48, of Massachusetts, was involved in at least two hit-and-runs and struck several trees and signs near Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.

The driver continued driving, struck another car and more trees after a bystander tried to stop him, police said.

Boulder Police attempted to stop the driver, but he eluded officers. Within minutes, the driver was spotted near Colorado and 28th Street and University of Colorado Police Department officers tried to stop him on Stadium Drive.

He eluded those officers briefly before ramming a gate to drive onto Folsom Field at the University of Colorado, police said.

After some negotiation with police, Haglund then got out of his truck and surrendered to police.

Haglund has been booked into the Boulder County Jail and charged with criminal attempt vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, vehicle eluding, leaving the scene of a crash after damage, failure to obey a traffic control device, driving without insurance, criminal mischief, obstruction of a peace officer and trespassing.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call dispatch at 303-441-3333 regarding case 24-9524.

Colorado visits rival Colorado State on Saturday before hosting Baylor on Sept. 21.
