FieldSaver offers a new approach to Field Data Collection. The system provides an interface that is based on a set of templates that are customized to match protocols and data gathering requirements. A department's medics are led through a series of screens that are determined by the chief complaints and protocols. The underlying logic keeps the interface simple, yet capable of the most sophisticated charting. FieldSaver creates natural language narratives while simultaneously generating lists of supply items used, procedures performed and medications administered. The software even provides a list of recommended field impressions based on the history and physical exam. The handheld interface is matched with a secure Web server which stores patient reports allowing medics to process calls electronically.
