Pictometry International Corp.announces that its contract for oblique imagery with San Juan County, New Mexico has been renewed and expanded. Under terms of the new agreement, new oblique imagery of the county will be captured by Pictometry along with an additional 245 square miles of LiDAR. The county began utilizing Pictometry image solutions in 2007. Since then the imagery has been integrated into various county departments including the San Juan Sheriff's Department, which relies on the imagery in emergency response and 9-1-1- dispatch scenarios. Similarly, county fire operations use the imagery to locate water sources and access roads when responding to calls. San Juan County assessors also utilize the imagery to reduce property visits by visually inspecting the properties from their computer desktops. Unlike traditional orthogonal imagery which is captured at an angle directly overhead to produce "roof top" views, Pictometry's aerial image capture process captures imagery from an angle. As a result, Pictometry's oblique imagery reveals greater detail of a property and provides users with high resolution views from multiple directions, including overhead views. Pictometry imagery is geo-referenced and is typically licensed to customers together with measuring software. Counties in 48 states across America, including 30 counties in the State of Georgia, currently use Pictometry technologies.
