March 09--ORANGE -- A car with the Orange Police Department was involved in a two-car collision Friday morning resulting in one injury.
An unmarked Orange Police Department sedan was involved a wreck with a pickup truck shortly before 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the intersection of 10th Street and Green Avenue in Orange.
According to information provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of the Ford truck was traveling north on 10th Street and attempting to turn left to head west on Green Avenue as he followed another vehicle.
The truck pulled into the path of the oncoming Orange Police Department vehicle and was struck. Each vehicle sustained considerable damage to the front left side.
The OPD vehicle was driven by Officer Sarah Jefferson-Simon, a longtime veteran of the department. She suffered unspecified injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. The extent of her injuries are unidentified.
The DPS spokesperson stated the driver of the Ford truck admitted he was at fault for the wreck.
The scene was cleared at approximately 11:30 a.m., Friday.
