Watch Mich. Troopers Narrowly Avoid Out-of-Control Tractor-Trailer
Video footage captured a close call for two Michigan State Police troopers who had to leap over an interstate median to avoid being struck by a sliding out-of-control tractor-trailer last month.
The incident happened Dec. 12 as troopers were investigating a crash involving multiple vehicles along Interstate 75 in Royal Oak, The Oakland Press reports. As two troopers were outside with drivers, another trooper was writing a report inside a cruiser.
That's when a tractor-trailer's driver lost control of the rig, and the vehicle began careening toward the crash scene. The tractor-trailer struck a cruiser, and the chain-reaction crash sent it into the cruiser with the officer inside.
As the tractor-trailer continued to skid out of control, it headed toward the troopers on the shoulder. They were able to jump over a road median to avoid the semi.
The trooper inside the struck cruiser was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The other troopers were uninjured.
The semi driver was arrested for reckless driving. The freeway was closed for both crash investigations and has since reopened.
